Ripton Thanksgiving in a Box

Last year, a simple idea turned into something pretty impactful. When a few Ripton, Vermont, residents realized some of their neighbors might need a little extra help putting Thanksgiving dinner on the table, they decided to do something about it. Thanks to more than a dozen generous donors, they made sure local families had what they needed for a delicious holiday meal.

And this year, the Snug Foundation is helping!

The 2nd Annual Thanksgiving in a Box is happening Sunday, November 22nd, from 9 AM–12 PM at the former Ripton Elementary School. We're inviting the Ripton community to stop by, browse the selection of FREE Thanksgiving ingredients, and fill a box with all the fixings they need to create a special holiday feast for themselves and their families.

ALL ARE WELCOME. If you could use a little help this Thanksgiving, please come! There is no judgment and no need to explain. Things are tough right now, and everyone deserves a happy Thanksgiving no matter what.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

We're looking for donations of non-perishable food items and monetary contributions to make this event possible. Every little bit helps!

Our wish list includes:

  • Local grocery store gift cards (for turkey/perishable items)

  • Potatoes

  • Canned vegetables or fresh root vegetables (carrots, beets, onions, parsnips, etc.)

  • Cranberry sauce

  • Stuffing mix

  • Rolls

  • Gravy

  • Dessert (premade pie crust and filling, baking mix, etc.)

  • Sparkling cider

Food donations will be accepted at the Former Ripton Elementary School on Sunday, November 15, from 10 AM–2 PM and Monday, November 16, from 5 PM–7 PM.

Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated and, thanks to the Snug Foundation, tax-deductible! Click here to donate.

Any leftover non-perishable food will be used to help establish a Ripton Community Food Shelf, extending the impact of your generosity well beyond Thanksgiving.

Last year reminded us that we don't have to be a big town to do big things. Sometimes the most meaningful way to push back against hardship is simply to take care of the people right next door.

Whether you donate, volunteer, spread the word, or come fill a box, there's a place for everyone in this effort.

Thank you!
